What is EGB?
The 5th edition of the Gaúcha School of Bioinformatics (EGB 2025) establishes itself as a platform for education, collaboration, and research in computational methods applied to the study of biological systems. The event covers topics such as bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, molecular biology, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, molecular modeling, and structural biology.
In 2025, the organization was carried out jointly by three institutions: The Structural Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Laboratory (SBCB), affiliated with the Center for Biotechnology (CBIOT) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS); The Laboratory of Molecular Modeling Applied to One Health (LAMMASU), from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Federal University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA); and The Brain Institute of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS).
The initiative is supported by the following graduate programs: Graduate Program in Cellular and Molecular Biology (PPGBCM) and Graduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology (PPGBM), both from UFRGS; and Graduate Program in Biosciences (PPGBio) from UFCSPA.
